La Asociación Premios Canarios de la Música muestra su apoyo y su solidaridad con el pueblo palestino y con la Global Sumud Flotilla, también conocida como la Flotilla de la Libertad, que partió desde Barcelona con dirección hacia Gaza, con la finalidad de establecer un corredor humanitario que permita distribuir por mar ayuda humanitaria entre la población civil de la franja, en donde han muerto más de 63.000 personas, muchas de ellas menores.
A través de un comunicado que ha sido refrendado por unanimidad por más de 75 asociados, la mencionada entidad que reúne a un gran número de los profesionales del sector musical en Canarias, avanza que “la población civil sufre un bloqueo inaceptable que impide la entrada de alimentos, medicinas y ayuda humanitaria a la Franja de Gaza, generando una crisis de hambruna y vulnerando los derechos elementales de cientos de miles de personas”.
De esta manera, la Asociación Premios Canarios de la Música y el sector musical de las islas se suma al impulso solidario global que ha generado la iniciativa de la Global Sumud Flotilla, así como al sentir que vienen manifestando multitud de representantes del mundo de la cultura y la sociedad civil española a favor de que cese de inmediato el genocidio que está produciéndose contra el pueblo palestino y se ponga fin a la ocupación ilegal y a los mecanismos de segregación que se emplean contra la población de Palestina, todos ellos contrarios al cumplimiento de la ley internacional por parte del Gobierno de Israel.
La Asociación Premios Canarios de la Música, que el próximo 3 de diciembre celebra su gala de entrega de los premios en el Teatro Leal de La Laguna, asegura en su comunicado que “desde el modesto escaparate que la música y la industria musical nos proporciona, el sector debe lanzar un grito que manifieste nuestro apoyo y solidaridad con el pueblo palestino y con la misión internacional solidaria Global Sumud Flotilla con el objetivo de romper el bloqueo y hacer llegar ayuda humanitaria a la población civil palestina. Asimismo, apelamos a las autoridades europeas que tomen todas las medidas necesarias para forzar el final de este genocidio”.
La iniciativa de la Global Sumud Flotilla, que cuenta con el apoyo del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores del Gobierno de España, está integrada por una veintena de barcos que partieron este domingo pasado desde el puerto de Barcelona rumbo a Italia y Túnez con más de 300 tripulantes, entre los que figuran la activista sueca Greta Thunberg, el actor Liam Cunningham o la exalcaldesa de Barcelona, Ada Colau. El mal tiempo ha obligado a regresar a puerto a algunas de las embarcaciones debido al temporal que ha azotado en las últimas horas el litoral mediterráneo. Barcelona no ha sido el único puerto del mundo desde el que han zarpado barcos en los que se considera ya como la mayor flotilla civil coordinada de la historia. Desde Génova pronto partirán 300 toneladas de ayuda humanitaria que serán transportadas hacia la Franja al igual que desde Portugal o Túnez. En total más de 50 barcos de 44 países distintos forman la Flotilla Global Sumud.
En 2020 se fundó oficialmente el movimiento Freedom Flotilla, que en esta ocasión ha pasado a llamarse Global Sumud Flotilla. En la web de la Global Sumud Flotilla se especifica que sus esfuerzos “se basan en décadas de resistencia palestina y solidaridad internacional”, y aunque pertenecen a diferentes naciones, religiones y creencias políticas, advierten que los une una sola verdad: “el asedio y el genocidio deben terminar. Somos independientes, internacionales y no estamos afiliados a ningún gobierno o partido político. Nuestra lealtad es a la justicia, la libertad y la santidad de la vida humana”.
La palabra ‘sumud’ se traduce del árabe como “persistencia o perseverancia constante”, motivo por el cual han decidido apodar esta misión así.
